Our Nation's Capitol

Monday we spent the day site seeing in Washington DC. We drove from our hotel to the nearest metro station and took the train into the heart of the city. We started our day at the White House, followed by the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and ended our day at the National Archives. We saw the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. No photos are allowed in the National Archives in order to help preserve the old documents (which were extremely faded as it was), so I only have a photo of the outside of the building. DC is a fantastic city with so much to see it was almost overwhelming. Since everything is so spread out, and because it was hot and humid, we took a rickshaw from the Lincoln Memorial to the National Archives and passed the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History and the National Gallery of Art. We even penciled in a lunch date with Barack Obama, but surprisingly he wasn’t available… Oh well, next time Barack!
