Wrigley Field

As we left Virginia on Wednesday our goal was to make it to the Cubs/Giants game in Chicago on Thursday at 1:10pm. We had mixed feelings about going into another big city, as that was exactly what we were trying to get away from, but in the end we had to go for it because seeing Wrigley Field was on the top of our list of things to see, especially since we didn’t get to go to Fenway Park when we were in Boston. We suffered through the traffic… and it was bad, but it was so worth it! We got great seats in the 2nd deck surrounded by Giants fans. The game went into extra innings (13 total) and although the Giants didn’t bring home a win, being there in Wrigley Field watching Panda, Brian Wilson, and all the other Giants players was a real treat. Wrigley Field is an awesome ball park that makes you feel like your watching a game in some other era when ball parks weren’t named after corporations. In fact the only corporate sign you see there is a modest Toyota sign. They don’t even have jumbo trons! You can easily see the houses that boarder the park and most of them have roof top seating for the games. We later found out that tickets for the roof top seats will run anywhere from $80 up depending on the game, but always included all you can eat and drink of high end food. The new friends we made in the seats around us warned us of the traffic leaving north of Chicago, the direction we were headed, so we thought it would be best to find some place to have dinner to wait it out. I used the Bobby Flay Throwdown Ap on our iphone and found Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria that specializes in classic Chicago deep dish pizza, and it was only 5 miles north of the stadium. Kyle got a personal “Malnati Chicago Classic” which is made with Lou’s exclusive blend of sausage and I got “The Lou” which has spinach, mushrooms & roma tomatoes. The place was packed, the food was delicious and we met some very nice locals who tried hard to get us to stay in Chicago for a few extra days. The stop was a perfect one because we hit no traffic as we left the windy city.
Chicago & the bad traffic

We got lucky our car didn't get hit by the fly balls
