Rain, Rain, Go Away

Yesterday we woke to rain (again).
This is what the "creek" next to our campsite looked like when we woke.

This is the same creek the night before.

Us packing up camp in the rain.
You can see puddles of water to the left under the Pine tree.
Lucky for us we decided not to put the tent up this time... less to pack up.

The Baseball Hall of Fame
Cooperstown, NY

Each team had a locker displayed -
Here's Kyle next to the Giants locker

A close up of the locker...
Yes, that's the Jerry Garcia bobble head (wearing a Giants jacket) given out at the Jerry Garcia Day Giants game which was on the 15th anniversary of his death. Kyle, his sister Michelle and I all went to that game together. The bobble heads were only given out to certain ticket holders, which we did not have the special ticket, but Michelle went to the ends of the earth to get us one - and we are even more stoked now to have one - a collector's item no doubt!

Kyle kept saying this was the year to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame...
This was the display saved for the World Series Champions... Go Giants!

Remember the "Horse & Buggy Crossing" sign I posted 2 days ago?
This tme we saw the real deal! Real Amish!
It was all I could do to keep from taking a photo of them as we were passing,
but I thought it might be rude.
This was outside of Cooperstown in New York.

As we headed East towards Vermont we went through some really cute New York towns.
This one was outside of Saratoga Springs and had some neat sidewalk displayed art.

Same town as above.

This is still in New York, but almost to Vermont.

After 6 days in New York, we finally made it to Vermont.
The Green State.
And that it is... It is simply gorgeous!!
We just need it to stop raining so we can enjoy it.

The houses in Vermont were unique and well maintained,
from what we could see.

And huge!

You can see the stormy clouds and very green mountains in the distance,
and a flock of Geese and thier babies here in the forgroud on the grass!

I'm not sure why, but I really liked this photo.

Last night we decided to stay out of the rain and get hotel room in Rutland, Vermont. We also treated ourselves to a wonderful dinner at a place I would highly recommend called Little Harry's. Vermont is well known for ice cream (think Ben & Jerry's) and cheese, and Kyle had Vermont cheese in his "Ravioli Diablo" which were melt-in-your-mouth homemade cheese raviolis with a spicy sausage tomato sauce on top. I took the waitress' recommendation with roasted duck that was incredibly tender. We're keeping our fingers crossed for no rain today (we're off to an overcast, but dry start, at 54 degrees at 8:30am) as Vermont boasts it's outdoor activities. There's a disk golf course on a ski hill here in town that is perched atop Little Pico Peak and winds it way down through the woods and ski runs of Pico Resort with beautiful views along the way including a waterfall at the 18th basket and includes scenic chairlift ride will deliver you to the first tee. We hope to be able to do that and then camp in the Green Mountain National Forest, but it's no fun in the rain, so we may just head towards Maine instead...
